Converted Freezer Composter Workshop on May 30th
May 9, 2015
Join us for a demonstration on how to convert an old freezer into an efficient composter that is completely rodent and bear proof!
Participants see the steps involved in the conversion, and will learn how to turn all their kitchen food scraps and lawn clippings into compost quickly in this insulated box. Temperatures of 130 – 150 degrees Farenheit are typical in this ‘hot’ composter, assisting with eradicating weed seeds and killing most pathogens.
We will also be raffling off a chance to purchase the converted freezer composter for the cost of materials, so you could take home the demo model!
Presenter bio: Inger-Lise Burns, Compost Coordinator for Powell River’s Let’s Talk Trash team, will give tips on how to get the best results from this style of composter, as well as facilitate a discussion on troubleshooting common compost complaints.
When: Saturday May 30th, 2:00-4:00pm
Where: Compost Education Centre, 1216 North Park St
Cost: $15/members (or can be used as one of free workshops), $20/non-members. Please pre-register to reserve your space.
