bookIf you’re thinking “Bio-what?”, here’s some background information:  bioremediation is “the use of biological agents to remove or neutralize contaminants; allying with living systems to detoxify contaminated environments. Many micro-organisms, plants and fungi are able to bind, extract and/or transform contaminants to create less toxic, healthier, and increasingly resilient and vital ecosystems.  Grassroots bioremediation is about all of us being able to respond directly to our circumstances and crises in empowering ways that increase our knowledge and self-determination and result in real improvements for the planet and our communities.” (source, http://www.earthrepair.ca)

Alfafa-300x297Whether you’re brand new to biormediation or are already involved in the evolving field of earth repair, you will find lots of wonderful information in this special workshop.  We will be exploring some of the DIY ways to work with the many micro-organisms, mushrooms, and plants that are the planet’s finest and oldest disaster responders, alchemists, and healers.

The workshop will cover different grassroots bioremediation techniques and tools, and how they work together, including:

Microbial remediation – using microorganisms to break down and bind contaminants
Phytoremediation – using plants to extract, bind, and transform toxins
Mycoremediation – using fungi to clean up contaminated soil and water
