Urban Garden Stewardship
We use the following spaces as hands-on classrooms and to increase access to whole and nutritious foods for people of all ages.
Compost Education Centre Teaching Gardens
Our original location in the Fernwood neighborhood of Victoria. You’ll find organic gardening methods and green infrastructure like composting systems, rainwater cisterns, cane berries, a food forest, a solar-powered aquaponics system, and farm stand.

This community garden is in the Fernwood neighborhood of Victoria on the same site as the CEC teaching gardens. There you’ll find 31 garden allotments, fruit and nut trees, composting systems, and communal flower beds.

This community garden is in the Oaklands neighborhood of Victoria. There you will find 31 garden allotments and composting systems.
Grow with UsCommunity Orchard
In 2024, in collaboration with the City of Victoria’s Urban Food Tree Steward Pilot Program, the CEC planted a community orchard in Alexander Park at 1325 Bay St at in 2024. There you will find mulberry and plum trees which will begin providing fruit in 2030. The community orchard will support local food security, food education, community connection. If you are interested in supporting the stewardship of these trees, please sign up to volunteer with us.
VolunteerBoulevard Garden Network
In partnership with the City of Victoria, we can work with community members to install two boulevard gardens annually. We also provide tools and educational resources for the long-term maintenance of the gardens.
