Workshops may be delivered in our straw bale teaching building  or at your facility, while site tours take place in the Compost Education Centre demonstration gardens.

Workshops are available Wednesday-Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Worm Composting
Length:  1 hour

Cost:  $55

Vermicomposting is an ecosystem and composting system all in one! This workshop will have learners understanding the anatomy of red wriggler worms, and how to create and maintain an active composting worm bin, and why composting is important. You can choose to keep a worm bin for your class for an additional $40.

Composting Basics
Length:  1 hour/$55 or 1.5 hours/$65

Learn the basics of successful composting as well as the importance of soil in our society and to all forms of life on earth.  In the 1.5 hour long workshop learners will get to explore and determine the most ideal composting system for their class or school, or assess an existing compost system.

Sustainability Site Tour
Length:  1 hour
Cost:  $55
Available April-September

Visit our demonstration site to learn about composting, permaculture gardening and alternative conservation techniques. We’ll experience everything from plant guilds to mason bee homes, aquaculture to worm composting, and so much more.  This workshop is available April through September when our gardens are most abundant.
